We are permitting requests for a second No Cost Extension; however, approval is not guaranteed. Each request will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and must include sufficient justification, a progress update, and any remaining project aims. All requests will be submitted for review by senior leadership, whose determination will guide the final decision.

Deadline: Requests must be received before the current extension expires.
Upon completion of your award, please submit a final report within 45 days.

Use this form to request a second year of funding of up to $50,000. Please submit a progress report, a supplemental research plan, and a budget along with its justification.

- Must be an LCRC Seed or Strategic Investment Award recipient
- Must be a continuation of the originally funded project and may not be supported by existing extramural funding or internal seed grant, or supplement funding
Budget Information
Direct costs may not exceed $50,000 (indirect costs are not allowed).
Funds may be used for salaries of research personnel, supplies, and other research-related expenses. Faculty effort/salary support is permitted, up to $10,000, if justified or required by the PI’s institution (academic “buyout”). Tuition reimbursement is not allowable.

Purpose
The Louisiana Cancer Research Center (LCRC) will offer travel awards to undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral trainees to enhance their training experiences in LCRC-affiliated laboratories and to increase the national exposure of LCRC research projects. This award program aims to provide funding for travel to national meetings where applicants have been selected to present their work.
Eligible Applicants
- Undergraduate (Junior or Senior) students, graduate students in their 2-5 years in the program, and postdoctoral trainees within 3 years of receiving their PhD
- The applicant’s PI must be an LCRC member
- The applicant must present either a poster or a platform presentation at the conference (within the contiguous 48 United States and the District of Columbia) for which they are seeking funding.
- Travel must begin no earlier than Jul 1, 2026, and be completed before December 31, 2026.
- Trainees who received a travel award in the previous two funding periods are not eligible
- Trainees from laboratories that were already awarded two LCRC travel awards in the two prior funding periods are not eligible
Budget Information
Direct costs may not exceed $2,000 (indirect costs are not allowable).
Applications must include a budget covering conference registration fees, accommodations, and other travel-related expenses. The maximum award cannot exceed $2,000 and may vary based on the number of successful applications and available funds. International travel is not eligible.
Conference and travel expenses will be reimbursed for the actual costs incurred, up to the amount of the funded travel award.

Award Requirements will include submitting a concise conference summary that highlights outcomes such as publications, collaborations, and career-related benefits, as well as participating in and presenting research at the annual LCRC Travel Award Symposium.
